Employee spotlight, Lucy Anderson

Every person in the Trenches Law family is important to us, which is why we’ve decided to introduce you to a different member of the team each month – so you can learn more about them. In this Q&A, we’re delving deeper into the mind of our Wayleave Officer, Lucy Anderson. If you’re keen to learn more about everything from her day-to-day responsibilities to what she loves the most about working at Trenches Law, you’re in just the right place…

Summarise your role in one paragraph

I negotiate wayleaves and other forms of access agreements, in respect of telecommunications equipment and project delivery. I also liaise and actively maintain strong relationships with landowners, local councils and private freeholders. Being a Wayleave Officer is an ever-changing role, and I’m tasked with keeping up with ongoing negotiations and processing incoming build plans.

What is your favourite part of your position at Trenches Law?

I am ever grateful to Trenches Law for introducing me to the wonderful team of ladies that I work with. Their help has been invaluable – both on a personal and professional level.

It’s a pleasure to work with them daily, and I’ve never met such a group of kind and helpful people. My colleagues have taught me wild amounts – even some common Welsh customer service phrases!

Which one word do you think your colleagues would use to describe you?

Energetic, for sure. I like to keep the team motivated and entertained, and I constantly work at a hundred miles per hour.

What word do you think best describes Trenches Law?

Fresh. Trenches Law has a modern and adaptable feel – constantly evolving to meet the needs of its colleagues, clients and the industry, it never feels tired or dated.

What’s been the most satisfying moment of your Trenches Law career so far?

Being nominated and receiving awards for my work. Nothing is more fulfilling than your hard work being acknowledged.

The relationships our team form with our clients is also incredibly rewarding – because when they win, we win too.

If one of your colleagues could win an award (industry or office-related) who would it be and why?

This is a HUGE copout, but I honestly could not choose between one of my amazing Welsh ladies. That’s why my award would go to Margot, the office puppy.

I’m always so excited to wake up early and dash to the office, as I know that her friendly, cheerful face will be there to greet me.

What are your hopes for Trenches Law in the coming year?

I can’t say for sure where Trenches Law will be in the next year – but I am glad I am here for the incredible ride!

We’re a very close-knit team, where each person brings something very unique to the table. I hope we keep advancing with such great spirit and integrity.
