Earmarking Haverfordwest, Rhoose, Llantwit Major, St Athan and Abergavenny as the first of the communities to deploy a gigabit-capable, Fibre-to-the-Premises network, at the beginning of its vital infrastructure build for Wales.
The wayleave process presents the first major hurdle to overcome when building any form of new trunk routes and networks, and the organisation required an expert in this niche field to help progress its forward-thinking project – to connect 150,000 businesses and homes by 2025.
Now Trenches Law is on board, the Hampshire-headquartered firm will co-ordinate all agreements with developers, private landowners, and Housing Associations to ensure negotiations run as smoothly as possible and people are connected, swiftly.
The collaboration has already begun with a success story, with the recent sign-off of a new development to build and connect over 200 premises in southern Wales.
“By focusing on the truly rural communities and areas that haven’t had access to full fibre broadband before now, Ogi is providing people with more choice when it comes to connectivity,” said Sarah Dale, Wayleave Manager at Trenches Law.
“It’s refreshing to know that the organisation also understands how complex and time-consuming the wayleave process can often be, and the importance of getting agreements in place at the earliest opportunity, as a result.”
Speaking about the partnership, Sarah added: “Ogi is an ambitious brand and has put its trust in us to help progress each phase of a huge project that is firmly focused on connecting businesses and homes in locations that have traditionally been overlooked. It’s exciting to be an extension of the team and be a part of something special that’s able to champion local businesses, create new jobs, and future-proof Wales.”
Commenting on the partnership, Steve Cooper, Ogi’s chief delivery officer added: “Partnering with Trenches Law is another step in facilitating the delivery of our first-class gigabit-capable network that provides Wales with the significant economic and social benefits that it deserves.
“We’re proceeding at pace and Trenches Law has quickly embraced our requirements to deliver the pragmatic solutions that help us maximise the number of customers we can serve. The team has responded well when asked to ramp-up capacity and at the same time continued to provide excellent wayleave and legal advice.”
