Employee spotlight, Joanne Earle

In this Q&A, we’re finding out more about Joanne, one of our Wayleave Officers. Discover more about her role, how she would describe Trenches Law, and her favourite part of working here so far…

Every person in the Trenches Law family is important to us, which is why we’ve decided to introduce you to a different member of the team each month – so you can learn more about them.

Summarise your role in one paragraph

My job is to investigate and negotiate. Wayleave Officers manage large data sets – finding out freeholder and managing agent details, company details, and Land Registry data.  We are responsible for making contact with freeholders and managing agents on our clients’ behalf, with the aim of obtaining consent to install apparatus at their property – ensuring that documentation is communicated efficiently between clients and agents.

What is your favourite part of your position at Trenches Law?

The best bit would have to be the team that I work with – we love a challenge and bounce great ideas off each other to improve processes both internally and externally.

Which one word do you think your colleagues would use to describe you?

Determined.

What word do you think best describes Trenches Law?

Exceptional – Trenches Law is a legal firm with a true family feel and a friendly approach.

What’s been the most satisfying moment of your Trenches Law career so far?

I’ve successfully built great relationships with large housing developers and associations. These contacts are invaluable when preparing wayleaves. It’s a win-win situation – it dramatically reduces our clients’ build times and I love unlocking new relationships!

If one of your colleagues could win an award (industry or office-related) who would it be and why?

There are so many people that I would want to nominate for a number of different reasons – if I had to choose just one, I would nominate Steve Sawley, my manager.  Steve is always available whatever the issue.  He provides unconditional support both personally and professionally, without any judgement or impatience.

What are your hopes for Trenches Law in the coming year?

I hope that the Trenches Law team continues to grow and learn, constantly improving and striving to be the best.
