Employee spotlight: Katie Fosten

In this Q&A, we’re finding out more about Katie Fosten, our Wayleave Manager. Find out more about what her role involves, the most satisfying moment of her Trenches Law career so far, and why she can’t wait to visit the office…

Every person in the Trenches Law family is important to us, which is why we’ve decided to introduce you to a different member of the team each month – so you can learn more about them.

Summarise your role in one paragraph

As a Wayleave Manager, I’m responsible for obtaining signed wayleave agreements from freeholders of private roads, blocks of flats, etc. I frequently liaise with housing associations, local authorities and property management companies to negotiate agreements across portfolios of properties. Leading a team, I work with a range of different clients, always ensuring that their needs and targets are met in a professional – and timely – manner.

What is your favourite part of your position at Trenches Law?

I most enjoy building relationships with stakeholders – both internally and externally.

Which one word do you think your colleagues would use to describe you?

Supportive.

What word do you think best describes Trenches Law?

Determined.

What’s been the most satisfying moment of your Trenches Law career so far?

Definitely when I successfully made a connection with an organisation that had historically been very difficult to engage with. It was a small step, but it went on to provide wider lines of communication within the company – which have been incredibly positive.

What do you love about the office?

I’ve yet to visit the office as I started with Trenches Law during lockdown. Once restrictions have been lifted, I’m looking forward to the tranquillity of the beautiful setting I’ve heard so much about!

If one of your colleagues could win an award (industry or office-related) who would it be and why?

Terry Daniell, who I would compare to Tigger!  He’s always full of energy and ‘bounce’ and can bring light heartedness to any situation.  This is incredibly infectious and contributes to the fact that the Trenches Law team is a very happy group of people – it’s great to be a part of such a wonderful business.

What are your hopes for Trenches Law in the coming year?

That we continue to grow and rise to each challenge, whilst sticking to our values and ethos.
