Trenches Law scoops national award

Just weeks after lifting a Federation of Small Business accolade for the South East region, we were thrilled to hear our name announced as a national winner too!

The final, held in Glasgow, saw Trenches Law’s wayleave automation tool selected as UK champion in the ‘Business and Product Innovation’ category at the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards.

As part of an in-depth submission process, the judges were impressed with how our solution – which can handle tens of thousands more wayleaves each week – had helped a number of organisations. One in particular to mention is full fibre broadband provider Ogi.

The Welsh disruptor brand appointed us to manage its entire wayleave process, utilising automation to roll-out a £200 million full fibre project throughout South Wales.

Facing ambitious build targets by its investors and shareholders, Ogi adopted the automation solution in Rhoose – and the work was delivered in just five months. Additional areas across Wales followed during 2021 to create a gigabit-capable, Fibre-to-the-Premises network. The entire project will connect 150,000 businesses and homes by 2025.

The tool has also played a pivotal role in the growth trajectory of our business – resulting in more staff, revenue and services on offer. We’ve got an exciting product roadmap underway too, and we’ll be sharing these details with you soon.

Speaking about the FSB UK award success, our Managing Director, Sharon McDermott, said: “To be recognised on a national scale is something we only dreamed about, and we were admittedly stunned when our name was announced as the overall winner.

“We put so many hours into making our wayleave automation tool something that was not only what the industry needed, but which also made the lives of telecoms operators so much easier. We’re constantly looking into how we can help our sector peers and can’t wait to roll-out more intuitive features down the line.”

Thank you, FSB for your recognition and to everyone who has sent kind words over email, social media and the rest. We are buzzing!
